We figure the race is about to change now...

The leaders are approaching the top of the technical descent and at 141kms it's Gilles Reboul who has opened out a 50s gap on the group now containing Chabaud, Tim DeBoom, Zamora and Faure.

Rene Rovera still trails this group.

Bottom of the hills

Gilles Reboul has just arrived at the bottom of the hills... and is turning to head home to Nice and the start of the marathon - but he's now riding into a head wind in very hot conditions....

He has a 1:05 lead on Herve Faure, with Tim DeBoom descending with the French team also... something he was worried about, but he's holding onto third place right now from Francois Chabaud and Marcel Zamora...

C'est la différence entre un excellent courreur sur IM, et un vainqueur d'Hawaï.

L'arrivée est proche

Gilles Reboul est maintenant arrivé en bas du parcours et tient toujours la tete pour entrer sur Nice et débuter le marathon dans des conditions de chaleur étouffante.

Il devance Hervé Faure de 01:35, Tim DeBoom descend également avec le groupe de francais... ce qui ne le réjouit guere mais il tient la troisieme place avec Francois Chabaud et Marcel Zamora.

Faure a fait 2h46' a Gerardmer l'an passé et a encore progressé (28 ans) avec 30'45" sur un 10 km officiel mais DeBoom reste le favori

On est donc d'accord. C'est très bien mais ca reste "la" petite différence.
