"Couple of very important announcements!
Helmets. Last year we allowed pretty much anything that was good with your region of competition. This year we are under the USAT rules and that means that your helmet must meet CPSC standards. That also means that it has to have a CPSC sticker in it! The race referee Jimmy Riccutello has a full list of accepted helmets and will be present at bike check in the make sure that you submit the correct helmet. Please do not challenge this, if a NON CPSC helmet is worn during competition a DQ will be automatic.
Drafting, same as last year, very simple, 7meters, or 4 bike lengths. Stay to the right, pass on the left. You have 20s to make the pass. WE all know what it is so please adhere to the rule. Jimmy will brief you in Kona at the meeting more on this. Jimmy will explain the penalty tent situation and rules on outside assistance and so on.
Outside assistance. OK, we all know that there are people out there on the course. There is nothing stopping people giving you splits, its ok to do that as long as the split giver is in a static position on the course. However, if anyone is seen driving, riding or running near you, you risk a Disqualification. If it happens you are putting yourself at risk, IF IT IS SOMEONE YOU DO NOT KNOW, TELL THEM TO GO AWAY. I know it’s a pain but you need to be firm on this.
